The work of fulfilling the LLIR mandate happens at the committee level. Areas of focus include registration, communications, programming, finance, facilities, among others.

  • Survey membership for course suggestions
  • Interview potential instructors
  • Develop a balanced program of courses
  • Gather course outlines from instructors
  • Arrange instructors’ requirements before course begins
  • Assist with co-chairs meeting prior to each term


  • Prepare database for registration

  • Assign returning members to courses
  • Assign classes to new members from the Waitlist after current member registration
  • Oversee workshops to help members register online
  • Prepare name tags

  • Determine registration fees
  • Be familiar with QuickBooks Pro
  • Pay bills


  • Update the LLIR website (WordPress)
  • Webmaster maintenance for website
  • Write the weekly slide announcements (PowerPoint)
  • Prepare and send mass emails to members (MailChimp)
  • Prepare member communiques
  • Prepare and summarize member surveys


  • Review Membership Guidelines
  • Coordinate co-chairs meeting prior to each term
  • Organize New Members Reception

Long Range Planning

  • Conducts member surveys for input to strategic plan development
  • Stay abreast of future developments in Third Age Learning
  • Stay abreast of government policies that could impact LLIR
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures pertaining to the future direction of LLIR
